ARC Accelerator Demo Day

Thursday 12 June 2025

For most of 2025 Eqweighty co-founders, Kim and Rachel, participated in the ARC Accelerator programme as part of a UKRI SHAPE Catalyst grant. The ARC programme supports social science researchers to think and operate more commercially in order to deliver impact at scale. While social science researchers can deliver some impact in the day-to-day course of our jobs, delivering impact on a large scale requires different ways of working and the brilliant ARC team provide the support to start embedding these new approaches.

One of the highlights of the ARC programme was the Pitch Demo Day held at Toynbee Hall in East London. The Demo Day brought together the whole Accelerator cohort to meet in person, chat, hear about each other’s work and pitch our ventures to each other.

We debuted Eqweighty!

More specifically, we pitched the importance of addressing weight discrimination in healthcare (it has significant impacts on individuals'’ health, healthcare engagement and it costs the NHS money), how Eqweighty is helping, and what our future might look like. We received excellent feedback and, as always, enjoyed a more general discussion about weight in health. Armed with our skills courtesy of the ARC team, we’re looking forward to our next Eqweighty adventure!
